Cómo llegar a serlo

Para ser técnico geotérmico se necesita una titulación, y la experiencia puede ser útil. Para cursar los estudios o la formación de este trabajo por lo general se necesita el NCEA Level 2. Requisitos: un New Zealand Certificate in Energy and Chemical Field Operations (nivel 4) o similar; licencia de conducir. Otros requisitos: un New Zealand Certificate in Energy and Chemical Process Operations (nivel 5); una licenciatura en ingeniería industrial, geología, ciencias de la tierra o un área similar; un certificado de posgrado en tecnología de la energía geotérmica; licencia de conducir con habilitación para vehículos de tipo especial; experiencia en un trabajo similar.
