Para ser técnico de medición y control industrial se necesitan una titulación y formación. Para cursar los estudios o la formación de este trabajo se necesita el NCEA Level 2. Requisitos: un New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Theory) (nivel 4) O un New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Practice) (nivel 4). Otros requisitos: un New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Trade (nivel 4) o similar; un New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (nivel 5); un Trainee Limited Certificate o licencia de ejercicio del Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB); estar registrado en el EWRB; licencia de conducir.
