Friends: connect with classmates
Add classmates as friends by searching their username or friend code and sending an in-app friend request. Once they accept, you can compare schedules, see shared free time, view a friend's shared timetable, and share study sessions. Friends are added entirely inside Peernovo — there is no external social-network or contacts import.
What it is
Friends lets you connect with classmates inside Peernovo so you can study together. Once you're connected you can compare class schedules, see your shared free time (study-buddy overlap), view a friend's shared timetable, and share study sessions with them.
Friends are added entirely within the app through friend requests. Peernovo does not import contacts and does not connect to any external social network.
Where to find it
Open Social → Friends in the sidebar (route `/friends`).
Adding a friend
- Open Social → Friends.
- Search for the person by their username or their friend code.
- Send them a friend request.
- The other person gets a notification and can accept or decline it. You'll also see requests other people have sent you, which you can accept or decline.
- Once a request is accepted, you're connected and they appear in your friends list.
You each have a personal friend code you can share so classmates can find and add you quickly. There's also a referral code that connects you automatically when someone joins through it.
What you can do once connected
- Compare schedules and free time — see where your classes overlap and find shared free time (study-buddy overlap).
- View a friend's shared schedule — if a friend shares their timetable, open Plan → Class Schedule → Friends' schedules (`/schedule/friends`), pick the friend, and see their shared classes and any overlaps with your own timetable.
- Share study sessions — invite friends into study sessions and see who's online or currently studying.
- Message friends — direct messages and group chats are available with people who are already your friends (Friends → Messages).
Common issues
- A classmate doesn't appear when I search — check the spelling of their username, or ask them for their friend code and search by that instead.
- No friends show under Friends' schedules — that page only lists friends who have shared their schedule with you. Add them as a friend first, then ask them to share their schedule.
- I can't message someone — you can only start a direct message or add someone to a group chat once they are already your friend. Send a friend request first.
Removing a friend
You can remove a friend from your friends list at any time; this disconnects you and stops schedule/session sharing between you.
