Universities: Browse Profiles, Reviews & Ratings
Browse the Universities directory, open a university's profile to see its degrees by field, upcoming events, key facts, graduate outcomes and student reviews, and read or write star + dimension ratings.
What this is
The Universities area is a searchable directory of universities and institutions. Each one has a full profile page showing its degrees grouped by field, upcoming events, key facts, graduate outcomes and student reviews. You reach everything from Explore → Universities in the sidebar (route `/institutions`).
Browsing the Universities directory
- Open Explore → Universities in the sidebar.
- Search by university name or city in the search box.
- Narrow the list with the state chips (NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, NT, Multi-state), or leave All states selected.
- Each card shows the university's location, its star rating (or "no reviews yet") and its number of degrees.
- Click a university card to open its profile page.
The university profile page
A university's profile is the hub page for that institution. It opens when you click a card in the directory, or click a university's name on a degree result. It includes:
- Hero with the university name, location and overall star rating.
- Degrees offered, grouped by field of study, each field showing how many programs it has and a few of its study themes.
- Upcoming events for that university, with date, campus/location and a link to view each event.
- Key facts such as location, type, year established, CRICOS code, campuses and a link to the official website.
- Graduate outcomes, drawn from open government (CC-BY) data, shown by field when available.
- Reviews from students and alumni at the bottom of the page.
The degree list is indicative and not an official prospectus — use the university's website link for authoritative course information.
Reading reviews and ratings
Scroll to the Reviews section on any university profile. It shows the overall average star score, the number of reviews, a star-by-star distribution, and average ratings across five dimensions: teaching, facilities, career outcomes, student life and value. Individual reviews list the reviewer's relationship to the university (current student, alumni, prospective student or staff), and reviews from users whose institution is verified carry a verified badge. You can sort reviews by most recent or most helpful, load more, or report a review.
Ratings also appear as a compact star average on degree result cards, so you can see how a university is rated while browsing degrees.
Writing your own review
- Open a university profile and scroll to the Reviews section.
- Click Write a review (you must be signed in — if you are not, you will see a prompt to sign in instead).
- Set your overall star rating and choose your relationship to the university.
- Optionally rate the individual dimensions (teaching, facilities, career outcomes, student life, value) and add a title and comment.
- Submit. A star-only rating publishes immediately; a review that includes written text goes to moderation before it appears.
You can edit or withdraw your own review later from the same section.
Common issues
- No "Write a review" button: Reviews can only be posted by signed-in users. Sign in or create a free account, reopen the profile, then use Write a review.
- Your written review is not showing yet: Reviews with text are moderated before publishing (star-only ratings publish instantly). Your rating still counts toward the average while it waits.
- "My University" events view is empty: Set your institution on your profile, or switch to All Events and pick a university to browse its events.
