国境を越える人や車両を検査し、関連する法令や規則を運用、執行する。
主な業務
- 国境や沿岸水域を巡回し、不法な出入国や、通貨・物品の不法な輸出入を阻止する
- 国境を越える人の渡航書類を確認し、必要な許可や証明書を持っていることを確かめる
- 国境を越える人の手荷物を検査し、物品や通貨の輸出入に関する法令や規則に適合していることを確かめる
- 国境を越える車両の輸送書類と貨物を検査し、通過貨物や物品の輸出入に関する法令や規則への適合と、必要な支払いが済んでいることを確認する
- 出入国管理法や関税法に違反した人を拘束し、禁制品や未申告品を押収する
- 法執行、強制送還、訴追に関わる他の機関と調整し、協力する
- 調査結果、取引、違反、決定事項を記録する関連事務を行う
- 必要に応じて、実施した調査の状況と結果について法廷で証言する
