発破技士になるには
正式名称：Shotfirers and blasters

鉱山、採石場、解体現場で爆薬を配置、組み立て、起爆する。
主な業務
- 職場の安全と、爆薬の取扱い、保管、運搬に関する手順や規則が守られるようにする
- 発破孔の配置、深さ、直径を計画し、指示する
- 発破孔の深さと清掃状態を確認する
- 使用する爆薬の量と種類を決める
- 発破孔に爆薬を装填する
- 雷管と爆薬カートリッジで起爆薬包を組み立てる、または他の作業員に組み立てを指示し、電線、導火線、導爆線を起爆薬包に取り付ける
- 電線、導火線、導爆線を直列につなぎ、電気回路を試験して不具合を直し、発破器に接続する
- 装薬を覆い、発破孔を岩粉や砂などで埋め、突き固めて装薬を締める
- すべての爆薬が起爆したことを確認し、不発を報告して処理する
- 起爆の前後に発破区域の安全を宣言する
