主に航空機や船の上で、乗客の快適さと安全を確保し、食事や飲み物を提供し、身の回りのサービスを行う。船上でのハウスキーピングや社交行事を計画し、調整することもある。
主な業務
- 航空機や船に乗り込む乗客を迎え、航空券や搭乗券を確認し、座席や寝台に案内する
- 酸素マスク、シートベルト、救命胴衣の使い方など、安全と緊急時の手順をアナウンスし、説明し、実演する
- 調理済みの食事や飲み物を用意して提供する
- 免税品などの商品を販売する
- 乗客の全般的な要望と快適さに気を配り、問い合わせに答え、客室を清潔に整える
- 緊急着陸後の機外への避難など、緊急時に定められた手順に従って乗客を誘導し、支援する
- 救急箱などの緊急用具が使える状態であることを確認する
- 具合の悪い乗客に応急手当を行う
- 気象、高度、航路、緊急時の手順、乗員間の連携、飛行時間、提供する食事と飲み物、乗客数に関する飛行前のブリーフィングに出席する
- 離陸と着陸に向けて乗客と機内の準備をする
