How to become a Call Centre Operator
Also called: Phone order clerk, Inbound telecommunicator, Customer service phone operator, Phone survey operator, Phone support clerk, Telesales staff, Telemarketer
Deals with customers, mainly by phone, at a call centre where customers' views come in directly.
Main tasks
- Taking orders and answering questions from customers
- Entering the details customers give into a computer while listening
- Repeating customers' information back to confirm it
- Handling customer complaints
- Giving other operators guidance on handling customers
- Transferring customer calls to other staff
- Reporting to a supervisor at the end of the shift on the number of calls made, appointments booked and where information was sent
