How to become one
No particular education or qualification is required to start. After joining, you usually have basic training and then learn the skills while doing the work. These days computers tell you which parts to fit and sensors calculate exactly where they go, so there is less need to rely on instinct and experience. Even people with no experience can often start work after training. After that you build experience and skill with guidance from senior workers. With experience, you can be promoted to supervisory roles such as team leader or line leader. As well as moving up within your department like this, some people move to other departments, for example becoming a finished-vehicle inspector after meeting the company's certification standards. The job involves a lot of standing for long periods, so a fair amount of physical strength is needed. You repeat the same tasks, so stamina and attention are also needed. As you gain experience, you are expected to learn several tasks rather than just one, to understand how the whole factory works and how cars are built so you can think of better ways to produce them, and to guide junior workers to get good results as a team.
