How to become a Cram School Teacher
Teaches primary, lower secondary and upper secondary students at cram schools (juku), private tutoring schools outside the school system.

- Planning lessons following the school curriculum or the cram school's own approach
- Recording students' attendance and marks
- Assessing and recording students' progress through tests and other methods
- Preparing lesson content
- Preparing audiovisual and other materials to support lessons
- Teaching lessons according to the timetable
- Giving one-to-one tutoring when asked
- Writing and running tests
- Marking and correcting homework
- Advising students on which courses to choose
- Giving explanations and advice on learning and further study at parent meetings and individual consultations
- Recruiting students, for example by making flyers and delivering them to letterboxes
- Attending staff meetings and training sessions

You obviously need a sound knowledge of the subjects you teach, but winning the trust of students and parents matters a great deal, so personality and enthusiasm are also valued. You also need to understand what parents and students want and respond to them with care and attention to detail.
