How to become a Logistics Equipment Maintenance Technician
Also called: Machine maintenance worker, Factory equipment maintenance worker, Plant maintenance worker, Lift repairer, Commercial air conditioning repairer, Packaging machine repairer, Refrigeration equipment repairer
Manages and maintains the equipment in logistics warehouses, which are becoming more automated and larger.
Main tasks
- Carrying out regular inspections of equipment and machinery
- Doing maintenance such as oiling machines
- Restarting lines after minor stoppages
- Cleaning equipment and machines
- Recording inspection results and writing work reports
- Replacing parts on conveyors and other equipment
- Walking around the site checking for problems
- Responding to sudden problems reported from the floor
- Contacting the manufacturer or others in the case of major breakdowns
- Taking apart faulty machines to work out what is wrong
- Managing and ordering stock of spare parts for repairs
- Checking and searching for parcels
- Suggesting ways to improve performance and the workplace
- Managing production and quality
- Operating power equipment

How to become one
