Fundraisers organise and take part in campaigns and activities to raise funds for special projects or non-profit organisations.
Main tasks
- Plan and run fundraising campaigns and events
- Build relationships with donors and sponsors
- Create plans to raise money
- Prepare proposals to ask for funding
- Manage fundraising budgets and spending
- Check financial records are accurate
- Update donor and fundraising records
- Oversee staff and volunteers
How to become one
You usually learn on the job to become a fundraiser and a qualification and experience may be useful. You usually don't need specific NCEA levels for this job, but Level 3 may be useful. Other requirements: experience in similar work; a relevant tertiary qualification in sales and marketing or similar area; a driver licence.
