Purchasing officers buy goods and services for an organisation. They may prepare purchase orders, get quotes from suppliers and make sure deliveries and orders are on schedule.

How to become one
You usually learn on the job to become a purchasing officer and experience or a qualification may be useful. You usually need NCEA Level 3 to do the study or training for this job. Other requirements: a relevant tertiary qualification in business and management, management and commerce or similar area; experience in similar work; to complete the Government’s graduate procurement programme.
