How to become an Aquaculturist

Also called: Aquaculture research scientist, Aquaculture specialist, Aquaculturist (Aquaculture), Ÿ Aquaculture research scientist, Ÿ Aquaculture specialist

Aquaculturist specialises in the practice of aquaculture, which involves the cultivation and farming of aquatic organisms (includes fin fish, crustaceans, shellfish) for various purposes, such as food production, research and environmental management. He/she can be responsible for managing and overseeing the aquaculture operation which includes tasks such as selection of suitable species, farming system design, water quality management, fish nutrition, and disease prevention and control. He/she can also be involved in aquaculture research and technology development, in various research areas like fish genetics and brood stock development for desirable traits (growth, disease resistance, etc.), nutrition involving feed formulation for different species, aquaculture systems, vaccines, farm automation, and environmental monitoring and management.
