Flight operations officer coordinates flight planning and assists in monitoring of aircraft performance, movements, operating conditions and en-route operations. He/she gives landing and departure authorisation and instruction, examines weather data and determines changes to the flight routes. He/she advises pilots-in-command accordingly in all matters affecting diversions in addition to liaising and coordinating with relevant parties to minimise flight delays and passenger inconvenience.
