How to become a Glazier
Also called: Automotive glazier, Building glazier, Glass fitter, Glass inserter, Glass installer (vehicles), Glass setter (building), Plate glass fitter, Roofing glazier, Structural glazier, Vehicle glazier, Window glazier, Building glazier
Glazier measures, cuts, finishes, fits and installs flat glass and mirrors. He/she cuts glass with cutting tool according to pattern or outline and smooths rough edges.
Main tasks
- Selecting the type of glass to be used, cutting to right size and shape and installing in windows, doors, showers and partitions of buildings
- Installing glass and mirrors in skylights, display cases, interior walls and ceilings
- Installing or replacing windscreens in vehicles or boats
- Creating decorative glass features such as glass walls, staircases, balustrades and stained-glass windows
