How to become a parks officer
Official title: Parks officer
Parks officer implements the park management work plan and is familiar with park operations and equipment. He/she may also organise events to promote the use of parks and provides information about the parks and their activities and programmes to park users. He/she also ensures that park features are under the park support programme and the park is safe for park users.
Main tasks
- Upkeeping of an estate or park and responsible for the proper management and maintenance of trees, shrubs and premises facilities
- Maintaining high level of health and safety standards in the park/estate
- Liaising with the residents’ committees to create events and programmes to promote the use of parks
- Providing information about the parks and their activities and programmes to park users
- Performing administrative tasks such as record keeping of maintenance works schedule and report
- Enforcing rules and regulations in parks and premises
