Refrigeration system operator operates and monitors refrigeration system which provides cooling medium for industrial processes, preserving foods, cooling buildings or for other purposes. He/she starts and stops electric motors, pumps, compressors, coolers or other equipment related to refrigeration system, as required. He/she observes thermometers, pressure gauges and other instruments relating to performance of engines and operating conditions in the plant.
Main tasks
- Inspecting equipment and monitoring operating conditions, meters, filters, chlorinators and gauges in central control rooms to determine load requirements, to verify that flows, pressures and temperatures are within specification, and to detect malfunctions
- Performing security and safety checks in plant and on grounds
- Completing and maintaining plant logs and reports
