Semi-conductor technician performs some or all functions in the manufacture of electronic semi-conductors. He/she loads semi-conductor material into the furnace, saws formed ingots into segments, loads individual segments into the crystal growing chamber and monitors controls. He/she also locates the crystal axis in ingots using X-ray equipment, saws ingots into wafers and cleans, polishes, and loads wafers into a series of special purpose furnaces, chemical baths, and equipment used to form circuitry and change conductive properties.
Main tasks
- Monitoring technical aspects of the manufacture, utilisation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment to ensure satisfactory performance and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations
