Specialised dentist specialises in giving surgical, medical and other forms of treatment for particular types of dental and oral diseases and disorders. He/she performs tasks similar to those of general dental practitioner but specialises in a particular branch of dentistry, such as prosthodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, pedodontics, endodontics, crown and bridge or oral surgery.
