Stock records clerk maintains stock records and controls the amount of stock held by an organisation. He/she examines delivery and issues vouchers and makes necessary entries in records. He/she also calculates stock held in various departments, examines production, sales or other records and estimates future needs. He/she may be in charge of stocks and also periodically check records against stocks held and check inventories kept by other workers.
Main tasks
- Arranging and controlling receipt and dispatch of goods and keeping relevant records
- Maintaining stock records, verifying issue of goods, estimating needs and making requisitions of new stocks
- Receiving, storing and issuing tools, spare parts, or various equipment and maintaining relevant records
- Weighing goods received, issued, produced, or dispatched and maintaining relevant records
- Compiling inventories of furniture and other items received for storage
