Official title: Earthmoving and Related Plant Operators
Earthmoving and related plant operators operate machines that excavate, push, level, spread and compact soil, rock and similar material on land surfaces, hillsides, riverbeds and coasts.
Main tasks
- Operate excavators to dig and move soil, rock, gravel, rubble and similar material
- Operate trenchers to dig trenches for sewers, drains, water mains, oil and gas pipelines and similar conduits
- Operate bulldozers to move, spread and level soil, sand, snow and other material
- Operate dredges to remove sand, gravel and mud from under water
- Operate pile drivers to drive timber, concrete and steel piles into the ground
- Operate road rollers to compact and level paving materials on roads, footpaths and similar surfaces
- Operate paving machines to lay concrete, asphalt or tar products on roads and other surfaces
