Plans, directs, coordinates and oversees the purchase, development, maintenance and use of an organisation's information and communications systems.
Main tasks
- Assess computer and system needs and specify the technology required
- Set information and communications technology policies and plans, and direct the selection and installation of computer equipment and systems and training in their use
- Direct ICT operations, analyse workflows, set priorities, develop standards and set deadlines
- Assess the organisation's use of and need for technology and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades
- Control budgets and spending and make sure resources are used efficiently
- Oversee the selection, training and performance of staff
