Researches mathematical, actuarial and statistical theory, and develops, improves and applies methods and techniques.
Main tasks
- Research, improve and develop mathematical, actuarial and statistical theories and techniques, and apply mathematical principles, models and techniques to research in engineering and the natural, social and life sciences
- Use mathematics, statistics, probability and risk theory to assess the impact of possible future events, and design pension schemes and life, property, health and social insurance schemes
- Plan sampling methods and questionnaires for statistical surveys, and process, analyse and publish survey data
- Advise on data collection methods and statistical techniques in business, industry, medicine and the natural, social and life sciences
