Official title: Medical Doctors
Treats, corrects or prevents disease, injury and disability in people, or carries out specialist surgery and diagnosis.

- Examine patients and diagnose illness to assess their health
- Diagnose and treat illness
- Perform surgery and clinical procedures
- Give anaesthesia for complex surgery
- Share medical information with other health professionals to make sure care is continuous and effective

- University department: Medicine & Dentistry degrees, Offered by 24 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a forensic pathologist you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 法醫師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 35.
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a physician you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 醫師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 6.
