Official title: Nursing and Midwifery Professionals
Plans, assesses and provides nursing care for patients, people with disabilities, older people, mothers and newborn babies, and provides midwifery services.
Main tasks
- Plan, assess and provide professional nursing care and midwifery services in health care settings
- Provide ongoing nursing care for people with chronic illness and older people in home nursing services and nursing homes
- Provide health promotion and disease prevention nursing in public health centres, communities, schools and workplaces
- Supervise and coordinate nursing and midwifery work
- Take part in health education programmes and activities to promote health and help prevent disease
- Clean wounds and apply surgical dressings and bandages
Ways in
- University department: Nursing & Midwifery degrees, Offered by 45 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a midwife you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 助產師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 31.
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a registered professional nurse you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 護理師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 11.
