How to become a Pharmacist
Official title: Pharmacists
Dispenses and identifies medicines, explains how to use them and their side effects, and gives advice, or works in pharmaceutical research, formulation and testing.
Main tasks
- Receive prescriptions and check the right dose, proper storage and drug compatibility before dispensing
- Advise customers on what a medicine does, resistance and contraindications, side effects, dosage and storage when selling medicines
- Supervise the stocking, supply and dispensing of medicines
- Analyse medicines using standard test procedures to determine their ingredients, purity and strength
- Research and develop biopharmaceuticals
Ways in
- University department: Pharmacy degrees, Offered by 12 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a pharmacist you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 藥師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 6.
