Ships' deck crews and related workers carry out deck duties on watercraft.
Main tasks
- Keep watch on sea conditions when entering or leaving port and passing through narrow channels
- Handle ropes and wires and operate mooring equipment
- Maintain and operate ship equipment such as rigging, cargo handling, lifesaving and firefighting equipment
- Clean, derust, paint and carry out other necessary maintenance on decks and hulls
