How to become a Special Education Teacher
Official title: Special Education Teachers
Teaches students with disabilities in public and private special education schools and classes and special kindergartens.
Main tasks
- Assess students' intellectual, physical, social and emotional abilities and limitations to design programmes, lessons and activities that meet their needs
- Use special education methods and strategies to improve students' senses, motor skills, language, thinking and memory as needed
- Teach lessons suited to students with hearing, vision or other impairments, encourage and build their confidence, and develop specialist skills
- Record students' learning and evaluate their progress
- Discuss individual education plans with students, parents, principals and other professionals to support each student's learning
