How to become a Veterinarian
Official title: Veterinarians
Prevents, diagnoses and treats disease in animals, or carries out animal quarantine and disease control.
Main tasks
- Diagnose, treat and test animals for disease, and issue certificates
- Perform surgery on animals
- Carry out animal quarantine, health care and vaccination, and report outbreaks of infectious animal disease to the authorities
- Carry out hygiene inspections at livestock and poultry slaughterhouses
Ways in
- University department: Veterinary & Animal Science degrees, Offered by 6 universities in Taiwan
- Licence (national exam): Regulated profession. To practise as a veterinarian you must pass the national Professional and Technical Examination (專門職業及技術人員考試) for 獸醫師 and hold the certificate. Listed in the annex to article 2 of the Enforcement Rules of the Professional and Technical Examinations Act, item 5.
