Wood processing plant operators operate sawmill, veneer and plywood machinery and other wood processing machines.
Main tasks
- Inspect logs to decide the best cuts by size, quality and other characteristics, or operate automated equipment that moves logs to laser scanners to determine the best production and cutting method
- Feed timber onto conveyors
- Operate automated equipment to saw logs into timber of various sizes
- Operate machines to press or cut plywood
- Clean, lubricate and maintain sawmill equipment
