鐵路施工和養護工人鋪設、重鋪、修理和檢查鐵路軌道，並養護周邊區域。
主要任務
- 沿軌道巡查，目視檢查鋼軌、螺栓、魚尾板和軌枕座有無變形或斷裂
- 檢查螺栓和楔子是否緊固，更換損壞的軌枕座，必要時重新搗固軌枕下的道砟
- 為道岔加油潤滑，檢查圍欄、排水溝、涵洞和路堤，並進行必要的養護
- 攤鋪道砟，按規定間距鋪設軌枕或鋼墊板
- 放置鋼軌、道岔和渡線，並用螺栓、木楔或扣件固定鋼軌
- 用螺栓將魚尾板固定在鋼軌上，連接各段鋼軌
