Uses instruments, tooling and specialist equipment to make, assemble and test the many accessories fitted to aircraft.
Main tasks
- Washing parts, often with ultrasonic cleaners and similar equipment
- Assembling filters with high frequency welding and similar equipment
- Weaving metal wire on braiding machines
- Machining metal sheet by electrochemical etching with specialist equipment
- Assembling, soldering and wiring accessory circuit boards with electrical assembly tools
- Screening accessories in hot and cold chambers, on vibration tables and with similar equipment
- Making cylindrical housings and gas bottles on power spinning machines
- Assembling and testing landing gear and hydraulic accessories with specialist equipment, jigs and gauges
- Assembling accessories at the assembly bench
- Checking that the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic connections of accessories are correct with special tooling and instruments
- Testing accessories with specialist test equipment
- Locking accessories and fitting lead seals with sealing pliers
