Examines aquatic life for disease and pathogens with high power microscopes, PCR machines and other equipment, diagnoses disease and issues quarantine certificates.
Main tasks
- Checking, disinfecting and maintaining diagnostic equipment and tools and storing reagents
- Processing and storing diseased tissue and pathogen samples and identifying, purifying and culturing fungi, bacteria and cells
- Testing aquatic life for disease and pathogens with high power microscopes, PCR machines and other equipment
- Diagnosing aquatic animal diseases from test results and observations and issuing diagnosis reports, test reports and quarantine certificates
- Guiding and supervising the disinfection and safe disposal of aquatic animals and products carrying pathogens
