Also called: Archaeological Surveyor, Archaeological Digger
Surveys and excavates ancient remains buried underground or under water with probing spades, trowels, underwater archaeology equipment and other special tools, and records, draws and recovers them.
Main tasks
- Surveying remains on land and under water to find their spread, depth, thickness and nature
- Excavating and clearing test squares, trenches and tombs and recovering remains
- Recording the process of land or underwater archaeology and the features and information found
- Drawing plans of excavated remains and objects recovered from land and water
- Sorting and protecting recovered remains and piecing together and strengthening broken relics
