Runs specialist machines such as injection moulding, slush moulding, vacuum forming, foaming, welding and cutting machines to make interior and exterior trim for cars.
Main tasks
- Making moulded trim such as dashboards, centre consoles, door panels, bumpers and wheel arch liners on injection moulding machines and similar equipment
- Making the outer skin for dashboards and door panels on slush moulding machines and similar equipment
- Forming thermoplastic sheet into soft trim such as dashboard covers on vacuum forming machines and similar equipment
- Making foam parts such as steering wheels, door armrests, seat cushions and seat backs on foaming lines, reaction injection moulding machines and similar equipment
- Sewing covers for headrests, seat cushions and seat backs, and trim such as sleeper berths and curtains, with sewing machines and other tools
- Assembling parts into interior assemblies such as dashboards, door panels and seats with hand, air or power tools
- Checking and testing the size, look, function and performance of trim with inspection equipment and gauges
