Researches and designs the continuous production of centrifugally cast iron pipe, from casting and annealing to coating, and puts the technology to work in production.
Main tasks
- Researching and adopting continuous production processes, equipment layouts and improvements for centrifugally cast iron pipe
- Researching and designing joint types, annealing and internal and external coating methods and standards for cast iron pipe, and organising product tests
- Researching how cast iron pipelines are designed, installed and repaired after failures, and guiding contractors and maintenance teams in laying and installing pipe and dealing with failures
- Doing feasibility studies and technical and economic appraisals for new or upgraded pipe lines, designing site plans, pipework, production and utility facilities and processes, and guiding and supporting construction, commissioning and acceptance
- Setting and adjusting processes such as molten iron treatment, forming, annealing and coating, organising production, solving technical problems and directing workers
- Reviewing the technical requirements of contracts, analysing quality and technical and economic indicators, proposing improvement targets, plans and control plans, and revising operating methods, technical rules and management procedures
- Directing the inspection of raw materials, production and finished products
- Setting standards, quality targets and design codes for cast pipe products
