How to become a Commercial Photographer
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 商业摄影师
Takes portraits, landscapes and product photos, or records images of work and life, using cameras, lighting and styling to a plan agreed with clients.
Main tasks
- Meeting clients, finding out what they need, drafting a shoot plan and finalising it with them
- Choosing scenes and locations, setting up the space, props and lighting and checking cameras and other equipment
- Choosing camera angles and props and composing shots to suit the plan and the subject
- Adjusting cameras and equipment, choosing light and styling and setting exposure
- Photographing people, landscapes, objects and more
- Adjusting, storing and outputting proofs with editing equipment
- Showing clients the results and retouching or reshooting as asked
