Operates belt, chain and other conveyors to move bulk materials.
Main tasks
- Operating belt and steel cord belt conveyors and screw, scraper, apron and chain conveyors to move bulk materials
- Checking how conveyors are running, dealing with faults such as belt drift, and replacing idlers, rollers and chain plates
- Feeding material onto conveyors with feeders or by hand
- Discharging material into bins with trippers, shuttle belts or diverter plates and keeping track of stock levels
- Running small dust collectors and water pumps to control dust and drain water
- Joining belts by bonding, riveting or clipping with tools
- Sweeping up spilt material, maintaining equipment and fixing faults
