Works at a centre for disease control on controlling infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, chronic diseases, injuries and diseases particular to certain areas.
Main tasks
- Using surveillance and case reports to track how diseases appear, spread and change in the local area
- Finding out why diseases are spread the way they are, proposing prevention and control measures and helping to assess how well they work
- Carrying out public health oversight in disease control
- Investigating and dealing with new and returning infectious diseases and other unusual disease events
- Researching causes and risk factors, designing interventions and guiding disinfection and control of insects and rodents
- Organising vaccination and preventive medication
- Screening and treating high risk groups and guiding action on risk factors for chronic disease
