Diagnoses patients with urgent conditions and gives emergency treatment.

- Taking histories and examining patients on the spot, and writing up medical records
- Resuscitating critically ill patients on the spot
- Ordering or carrying out lab tests, imaging, interventional procedures, needle sampling and other tests
- Analysing test results and making a first diagnosis
- Giving emergency treatment with medicines, surgery and other methods
- Watching how patients' conditions change and stabilising and supporting vital signs
- Recommending admission, outpatient treatment, observation, transfer or discharge depending on the patient's condition
- Transferring injured and sick patients
