- Inspecting machinery brought in, filling in repair forms, diagnosing faults and deciding the repairs needed
- Removing parts to assess damage and repairing or restoring them
- Taking apart, cleaning, adjusting, fitting and repairing engines, chassis, working parts and hydraulic and electrical systems with tools, gauges, meters and special equipment
- Repairing and adjusting fuel systems with fuel pump and injector test benches
- Repairing and retreading tyres with tools, gauges and special equipment
- Checking repair quality, explaining the work to customers and handing machinery back
