Grows and produces seed, cuttings and seedlings of trees and grasses with tillage, grafting and plant tissue culture tools and equipment.
Main tasks
- Surveying seed sources and forecasting seed and cutting yields
- Collecting, preparing, testing and storing tree and grass seed and plant tissue
- Staking and marking sample plots in seed stands, seed orchards, cutting gardens and nurseries and surveying and recording them
- Preparing nurseries and raising seedlings by sowing, cuttings, grafting or tissue culture
- Loosening soil, weeding, fertilising, spraying and sterilising and controlling common pests, diseases and damage from birds and animals
- Checking seedlings and sending them out, heeling in or transplanting them
