Monitors and manages livestock breeding with breeding tools and monitoring instruments, handles mating and raises young animals.
Main tasks
- Choosing, feeding and training breeding animals
- Collecting semen from breeding animals with collection equipment
- Checking, diluting and storing semen with microscopes and other tools
- Operating freezing equipment to make frozen semen in straws or pellets
- Monitoring and controlling heat and ovulation in donor and recipient animals
- Inseminating females or transferring embryos with special instruments
- Watching and recording conception and pregnancy and helping with births
- Measuring, recording and analysing the breeding and production performance of breeding animals
