How to become a Merchandise Compliance Officer
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 商品监督员
Also called: Advertising Compliance Reviewer
Oversees the quality, labelling, price tags, packaging, measurement and intellectual property of goods in retail businesses, controls processes and traces purchase records.
Main tasks
- Checking suppliers' business licences, tax registration, organisation codes and production licences, and manufacturers, approvals, approval numbers and quality certificates for the goods they look after
- Reviewing purchase contracts, signing off on purchases and keeping a close watch on goods that may carry quality risks
- Checking and recording the names, manufacturers and addresses, brands and supply channels of the goods they look after, and managing traceability and process control
- Collecting, sorting, filing and updating the business's internal quality management records
- Dealing with faulty goods and customer complaints and publishing notices and recalls for goods with quality problems
- Responding to product safety incidents
