Heat treats metal by hardening and tempering, normalising and annealing in all kinds of annealing furnaces.
Main tasks
- Checking material information
- Shot blasting material surfaces before they go into the furnace
- Directing cranes to add sand and iron filings and load material into or lift it out of bell furnaces
- Clearing seal sand, furnace pits, carbon build up and residue
- Uncoiling, welding, cleaning and joining coils and feeding them into continuous annealing lines
- Controlling speed, temperature, tension and coating settings for normalising, tempering and annealing
- Adjusting fuel and protective gas to control furnace temperature and annealing
- Treating material surfaces and collecting sheet
- Maintaining equipment, clearing faults and keeping production records
