Researches, verifies, calibrates, tests, measures, oversees and manages measurement, and drafts, revises and applies measurement regulations and standards.
Main tasks
- Researching, setting up and maintaining measurement primary standards, measurement standards and measuring equipment
- Drafting, revising, reviewing and managing regulations on measurement technology and overseeing how they are followed
- Organising measurement comparisons and traceability, assessing measurement standards and overseeing measuring instruments and reference materials
- Organising type approval of new measuring products and measurement arbitration, and carrying out measurement notarisation, assessment and certification
- Developing instruments, equipment, systems and reference materials for measurement testing
- Maintaining and using measuring instruments and managing an organisation's measurement work
- Giving technical advice and spreading knowledge about measurement
