How to become a Metrology Technician
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 计量员
Also called: Length Metrology Technician, Thermal Metrology Technician, Electrical and Chemical Metrology Technician, Acoustic Metrology Technician, Mechanical Metrology Technician, Radio Frequency Metrology Technician, Time and Frequency Metrology Technician
Verifies and calibrates instruments, meters and equipment, and checks, adjusts, repairs and tests them.
Main tasks
- Measuring indicated or nominal values
- Checking the appearance of measuring instruments
- Calibrating less accurate instruments against more accurate ones
- Adjusting instrument parts so they meet the set specifications
- Repairing, grinding or replacing instrument parts
- Measuring the size, shape, position and other features of objects with measuring instruments
- Recording, calculating and judging measurement data
- Helping lead inspectors write verification, calibration and test reports
- Checking and maintaining instruments and equipment
