How to become a Mine Construction Engineer
Official Chinese title (2022 occupational classification): 矿井建设工程技术人员
Designs mine shafts, prepares and reviews preliminary designs for mining districts, and organises and manages the building of shafts, chambers, roadways and other mine works.
Main tasks
- Studying the geological structure of underground mining areas and how ore bodies and minerals are distributed and occur
- Preparing and reviewing preliminary designs for mines and mining districts
- Setting safety measures for shaft sinking and roadway driving equipment, and making sure safety, environmental and health measures are followed during construction
- Writing and applying development work procedures, directing construction and controlling quality
- Organising and managing the building of shafts, chambers, main level roadways and other works
- Planning how upcoming development works link up, analysing developed coal reserves and the handover between areas ahead of time, and adjusting the construction schedule
- Finding safety hazards in development areas and taking part in rescue and investigation after major development accidents
- Organising the take up of new development technology, equipment, processes and materials and tackling technical problems
