Works on offshore platforms doing lifting, drilling and completion support, marine duties, oil and gas offloading and emergency work.
Main tasks
- Raising and dropping anchors when mobile rigs are towed
- Making fast and casting off mooring lines as vessels berth and leave
- Helping with oil and gas offloading, fuel and water supply and drilling and completion work
- Directing cranes to lift people and supplies
- Operating and maintaining lifting, firefighting and lifesaving, anchor winch, offloading and emergency equipment
- Receiving and dispatching helicopters
- Plugging leaks and doing similar work with emergency equipment
- Tidying, cleaning and corrosion proofing decks
